How to merge PDF files

  1. Add two or more PDFs using the button above, or drop them onto the page.
  2. Drag the rows to put the files in the order you want.
  3. Press Merge PDFs. The combined file downloads straight away.

What merging does to your file

Pages are copied across exactly as they are. Text stays selectable and searchable, images keep their original resolution, and page sizes are preserved, so a document mixing A4 and letter pages keeps both.

The merged file contains every page from every document, in the order shown on screen. Nothing is re-encoded, so there is no loss of quality and the combined size is roughly the sum of the originals.

A note on forms and signatures

Interactive form fields and digital signatures do not survive merging, because the merged file is technically a new document. If you need a signed PDF to stay valid, merge first and sign afterwards.

Why this tool does not upload your files

Everything happens inside your browser using JavaScript. The PDFs are read into memory on your device, combined there, and written back out as a download. No copy is sent anywhere, which means no server-side storage, no retention period to worry about, and no waiting for an upload on a slow connection.

You can verify this: load the page, disconnect from the internet, and the tool still works.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a limit on how many PDFs I can merge?

There is no fixed limit. The practical constraint is your device's memory, since all the files are held there while merging. Dozens of ordinary documents are fine; very large scanned files may slow things down.

Does merging reduce the quality of my PDFs?

No. Pages are copied without re-encoding, so text stays selectable and images keep their original resolution.

Can I change the order of the files?

Yes. Drag the rows into the order you want before pressing Merge. The first row becomes the first pages of the merged file.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. The merge happens entirely in your browser and no copy of your document is transmitted anywhere.

Can I merge password protected PDFs?

Only if the password has already been removed. An encrypted file cannot be read without its password, so remove the protection first using the application that created it.
